As Thanksgiving approaches, I know many people will be leaving town, unplugging, and spending quality time with their families. I’ve never been much of a holiday person, which is why for the past eight years, I have always traveled on Thanksgiving.
For a long while there, I would head to San Francisco and eat at Silver Clouds, a diner karaoke dive, turned wannabe chic dinner joint on the holiday. Aside from SF, I’ve also visited Buenos Aires and Vancouver, B.C. during this time.
This year, I’m not going anywhere and I’m totally okay with that.
But here is what I want to do: I want to work.
Yep, you heard me right. I want to work and maybe help you out. If you are a blogger that will be taking some time off during the holidays and need some help, let me know!
Do you want to keep a consistent publishing schedule? I got you covered.
Do you want to maintain your socially active presence? I can do that, too.
Or how about edit that e-book that has been sitting on your desktop for 4 months? I love editing other people’s work, so let’s get started!
Maybe you need some help with your resume, cover letter or dating profile?
Or perhaps you’re finally ready to get serious about side hustling. As a side hustle maven, I offer affordable side hustle coaching services to help turn your question mark into action and extra money.
Really, there is no task too small. If you need a writer, editor, social media scheduler, copywriter or virtual assistant, then let’s collaborate.

This is awesome! I will also be home / in town / working – but I like it that way. It’s amazing that when you like what you do, you don’t dread work!
Exactly! I always get more done during the holidays too because it’s so quiet.
It’s good to know you do resumes. Since I worked in HR for a few years and then as executive vp, I get folks from my network asking me to review their resumes or help them. I’ll offer 30 mins to review and suggest edits but then it goes into coaching that ends up eating 8-12 hours. I never charge because I’m not in that business but I always suggest they should hire someone to help them. I usually get a gasp but then I’m like you’re looking at this all wrong. Hiring an expert to help you fix your resume, coach you to get the job, etc is an investment. Then I go executives of Fortune 500 companies pay professionals to do their CVs and to coach them. If you want to be at your best invest in yourself and hire an expert. Ha sorry went off on a tangent.
Wow, you are a generous friend, Jason! Resume help/coaching is a ton of work, and I totally agree that it is a worthy investment. Especially if you are looking for a top level job!
Great idea Melanie. Good luck! If I need any help I’ll let you know.
Thanks!
Way to be bold Melanie and just ask!! Love it! I ALMOST thought about applying to a post office for holiday help, but I can’t imagine working 8 hours a day for minimum wage when I KNOW I could be looking for new and better ways to earn money on my own time. If you know what I mean? Hope you get some work!
My new mantra post FinCon is to BE BOLD! So yes I figure you need to ask for what you want/need, or no one will give it to you. I know you are worth so much more, Tonya! I hope some work comes your way too.
Ha!! I love that you are offering to write people’s dating profiles! I actually need to follow up with you on the side because I have 2 or 3 friends I have told to try online dating but they have no idea what to write on their profiles. Now I know where to send them.
Haha send them my way! I think it would be fun! A change from personal finance, that is for sure…
I love fitting in extra work during holidays and long weekends (we don’t travel far for the holidays). Good sell Good luck!
It’s really a great time to work!
Love this! Way to put yourself out there!!!
Thanks, girl!
