The holiday season is here and time is ticking. There are still more gifts to buy, but what? Gifts can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as price points and uses.
If you have a money nerd in your life or someone that is looking to really transform their financial lives, here are my recommendations for the best money-related gifts.
1. Membership to The Financial Gym
If you’re a listener of Martinis and Your Money (and if you’re not, start listening now!) you already know that I’m on the happy hour episode each month. It’s a riot and a highlight of my month. Martinis and Your Money is hosted by my biz bestie, Shannon McLay.
She is the founder of The Financial Gym, an actual brick and mortar location in NYC where you can kick your financial assets into shape! We hosted the 2nd Lola Retreat there in April and the space is to die for.
Not in NYC? Don’t fret, they also take on virtual clients. I highly recommend getting the money lover in your life a membership to The Financial Gym. They can help get your money into shape in a fun, supportive environment.
2. Get a student loan action plan with Student Loan Planner
I know many of you reading my site are here because you’re in debt. If student loans are your main issue, there is no better resource than Travis Hornsby at Student Loan Planner. He creates custom plans to help you pay off your student loans.
Full disclosure, I write for Student Loan Planner, but I believe in the service and know that Travis is doing great work. He doesn’t just have content but he has resources and professional help too. Give the gift of student loan help and book a consultation (referral link) for your loved one.
3. A student loan payment through ChangEd
I remember when I was paying off debt I always thought “I don’t want any gifts, just help me pay off my student loans!”. There wasn’t a super easy way to do that but now you can.
Using ChangEd, you can round-up your purchases and have the spare change go toward the student loan borrower in your family. It’s an easy, no-hassle way of helping them out.
4. Go to Lola Retreat
Got a woman in your life wanting to find community and get their financial act together? Treat them to a ticket to Lola Retreat. Lola Retreat is a women + money event I co-founded nearly two years ago. We’re having our 3rd retreat in Los Angeles during President’s Day weekend. It’s going to be here!!
We’ll be covering scarcity mindset, paying off debt and saving in a high cost of living city, preparing finances for big life events like buying a home, parenthood, divorce and caring for elderly parents, as well as impact investing, getting paid and more.
I remember a guy bought his girlfriend a ticket to Lola Retreat for our inaugural event and it was about the cutest thing ever. He got a lot of boyfriend points for that.
Use code THANKYOU for $75 off the ticket price.
5. Financial books
The right financial books can change the course of everything. Here are the books I recommend (affiliate links):
Dear Debt (yes, more juicy info is in my book!)
These books should be a good start on getting a financial education.
Bottom line
Feeling stressed and wondering what to get your loved ones? If you have a money lover in your life, consider these options to make the process easier. I don’t recommend buying gifts if you’re deep in debt or can’t afford it, but if you can, these are good options.
