Dear Debt, You Were Never a Friend of Mine Anyway

by Melanie

Hey everyone! I’m in LA this week visiting family, so enjoy some awesome dear debt letters this week. Today’s dear debt letter, as part of the #DitchYourDebt challenge, comes from Inspiremeshea.

Dear Debt,

This has been a hell of a ride! Today is the day that I take back my dignity and began to trust in me. No longer will I continue to live under your control, you have been a thorn in my side since the moment I met you. You held me in captivity for well over a decade but everyday I was thinking of a plan to escape.

From the harassing phone calls at all times of the night. It has been a nightmare. You were on a mission to destroy me. You made that loud and clear. How on earth did I even end up here with you? I used to be disciplined and in control of my own life. Then somehow you slowly creeped into my life, like a virus, attacking my finances, my credit score, and my peace of mind.

Today is a new day for me, the chains that once had me bound to your captivity have finally been broken. I know you thought you had me for good with your crippling ways. But my love for me is deeper than you will ever know. I love me enough to change my mindset and create a plan for success. I’ve been in captivity for so long with you, I almost forgot what it feels like to be free. I’m free to be me again and rebuild what you thought you had destroyed for good. Goodbye old debt you were never a friend of mine anyway. I will not give you one more ounce of my time. You might win some but you just lost one!

Sincerely,

Inspiremeshea

Oh, that harassing phone calls at all times of the night was really scary! I can really relate to that one and I do hope I will not experience it again.
